Ingredients:

For the crust:

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp sugar
1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
3/4 cup warm water
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup cornmeal (optional)
For the filling:

2 tbsp olive oil
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 lb Italian sausage, crumbled
1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
1 tbsp oregano
1 tsp basil
Salt and pepper, to taste
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Fresh basil, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Preparation:

Make the dough: Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast, and let it foam for 10 minutes. Mix in flour, salt, cornmeal (optional), and olive oil. Knead until smooth, then let rise for 1-1.5 hours.

Prepare the filling: SautΓ© onion and garlic in olive oil, then cook sausage until browned. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes.

Assemble the pizza: Preheat oven to 425Β°F (220Β°C). Roll out dough and press into a greased 9-10 inch deep dish pan. Layer with mozzarella, Parmesan, and sausage-tomato sauce.

Bake: Bake for 30-40 minutes until golden and bubbling. Let cool for 5 minutes before slicing.
