Classic Peach Cobbler

Ingredients

  • The Fruit Filling:
    • 4 to 5 cups sliced Peaches (fresh, frozen, or canned).
    • 1/2 cup Sugar.
    • 1 tsp Cinnamon (optional, for extra warmth).
    • 1 tbsp Lemon juice.
  • The Batter (The Golden Crust):
    • 1 cup All-purpose Flour.
    • 1 cup Sugar.
    • 1 tbsp Baking Powder.
    • 1 pinch of Salt.
    • 1 cup Milk.
    • 1/2 cup (1 stick) Unsalted Butter, melted.

Preparation Steps

  1. Prep the Oven: Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F).
  2. Melt the Butter: Pour the melted butter into the bottom of a baking dish (like the white ceramic one in your photo).
  3. Mix the Batter: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the milk until just combined (don’t overmix!).
  4. The Layering Trick: Pour the batter directly over the melted butter. Do not stir it!
  5. Add the Peaches: In another bowl, toss the peaches with sugar and lemon juice. Gently spoon the peaches (and their juices) over the batter. Again, do not stir! The batter will magically rise to the top as it bakes.
  6. Bake: Place it in the oven for 40 to 45 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbling.
  7. Serve: Best served warm with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on top!

Why it’s great: The bottom stays soft and pudding-like, while the edges get that caramelized, buttery crunch you see in the picture.
